End-to-End Visibility: Challenges and Solutions
Aqua Security CRO on National Cybersecurity Strategy, SBOMs and Cloud-Native AppsThe U.S. national cybersecurity strategy released by the Biden Administration is part of a larger effort to draw attention to the pervasive issue of cybersecurity liability and to hold vendors responsible if they fail to fully protect customers. The strategy also calls for ramping up the adoption of software bill of materials, or SBOMs.

SBOMs are a supply chain issue, and companies need to ensure that the code they are using has been designed with security in mind and increases visibility into software development processes, said Chris Smith, chief revenue officer at Aqua Security.
Containers and cloud-native technologies allow for more efficient and scalable development, Smith said, but they also increase the complexity of the environment, making it essential to have visibility and an "agent-based security approach" to identify and resolve any issues that may arise.
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at RSA Conference 2023, Smith also discusses:
- The complexity of container security;
- The need for a platform that offers end-to-end visibility;
- Why Aqua Security's CNAPP offering is generating interest in the marketplace.
With nearly 30 years of enterprise IT experience and 19 years in cybersecurity, Smith helps scale Aqua Security's global go-to-market team and accelerate growth. Prior to joining Aqua, he was CRO at Onapsis.
