The Austin-based vendor had long offered DLP, SD-WAN, secure web gateway and cloud access security broker capabilities, but the lack of full integration made it difficult to apply policies on a unified basis, says CEO Manny Rivelo. Forcepoint has focused both on migrating traditional point product customers to the Forcepoint One SSE platform as well as going after prospects who want a single-vendor SASE solution (see: How Zero Trust Can Simplify Your Security Infrastructure).
"When you're supporting 50 to 100 vendors inside your environment and you want to apply a unified policy, wouldn't it be easier if it came into an integrated platform and then you apply the policy once?" Rivelo asks. "Customers can not only simplify their costs to support the platform but receive a greater ROI and increase their security efficacy considerably by leveraging the new platform."
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Rivelo also discusses:
- Why single-vendor SASE is better than buying SD-WAN and SSE separately;
- How Forcepoint benefited from buying Cyberinc, Deep Secure and Bitglass;
- What makes Forcepoint's take on SSE different from Zscaler and Netskope.
Rivelo has more than 30 years of experience across executive leadership, product management, customer support and sales functions. He joined Forcepoint in January 2021 from global investment firm Francisco Partners, where he served as senior operating partner. He previously served as chief customer officer at Arista Networks. Prior to that, he served as president and CEO of AppViewX and of F5 Networks. Before that, Rivelo held various senior leadership roles at Cisco Systems, including senior vice president of the engineering and operations group.
