SentinelOne to Bolster Cloud Security With PingSafe Buy

SentinelOne announced the acquisition of PingSafe for an undisclosed sum of cash and stock to enhance its cloud workload security and cloud data security capabilities.

The Silicon Valley-based cybersecurity firm is set to acquire PingSafe for an undisclosed sum of cash and stock. The move will integrate PingSafe's cloud-native application protection platform into SentinelOne's Singularity Platform, creating a unified and advanced cloud security solution. will add PingSafe's cloud-native application protection platform into SentinelOne's Singularity Platform, which the company said will create a fully unified platform designed to enhance companies' cloud footprint with improved coverage, hygiene and automation.

The acquisition will help customers access a consolidated, best of breed security platform, and SentinelOne said the solution will incorporate real-time, AI-powered security operations and offer comprehensive protection across endpoints, identities and cloud environments.

“Combined with our Singularity Data Lake, Purple AI, endpoint security and identity security capabilities, PingSafe will enable us to provide a compelling and cost-effective alternative to stand-alone CNAPP offerings - unlike anything else in the market and a superior, more integrated user experience" said Ric Smith, chief product and technology officer at SentinelOne.

The company said the acquisition is expected to close in its first quarter of fiscal 2025, subject to any applicable regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.

PingSafe is a Bengaluru, India-based business providing a cloud-native application protection platform. It integrates into organizations' existing security frameworks, offering protection against emerging cyberthreats. It offers businesses security controls, real-time threat intelligence and streamlined vulnerability management, enhancing overall cybersecurity posture.

Smith said that with the addition of PingSafe, the company intends to redefine cloud security by fusing best of breed cloud workload protection, AI and analytics capabilities with a modern and comprehensive CNAPP.

"This approach to cloud security will eliminate the need for companies to navigate the complexity of multiple point solutions, triage and investigate with incomplete context, or pipe data between disparate data silos. Instead, they can comprehensively manage their entire attack surface from a single platform that, unlike legacy CNAPP and stand-alone providers, delivers the full context, real-time interaction and analytics needed to correlate, detect and stop multistage attacks in a simple, automated way," Smith said.

The acquisition will help SentinelOne to offer differentiated capabilities such as secrets scanning of runtime and build-time environments and an attack surface management rules engine that runs breach and attack simulation scenarios against internet-exposed cloud assets to identify how an adversary could compromise those assets.

These capabilities will be in addition to core CNAPP services such as cloud security posture management, Kubernetes security posture management, agentless vulnerability scanning and "shift left" infrastructure-as-code scanning.
