US E-Commerce Merchants Keeping CNP Fraud at Bay

Visa's Margaret Reid: CNP Fraud in US Has Not Spiked Because of EMV

Card-not-present fraud rates in the U.S. have not skyrocketed like some experts predicted in the wake of EMV, according to Visa. And Margaret Reid, Visa's senior vice president of risk services, says that's likely because most large e-commerce merchants in the U.S. are using sophisticated fraud prevention tools that have so far kept fraud rates at bay.

In this video interview recorded at ISMG's San Francisco Fraud and Breach Prevention Summit, Reid discusses:

  • Why CNP fraud is a worry in other parts of the world;
  • Visa's focus on 3-D Secure 2.0 over the next 12 months to enhance online transaction authentication;
  • How mobile payments are helping to pave the way for adoption of biometrics authentication.

At Visa, Reid has led the Global Processing Platform team responsible for driving many initiatives to enhance, upgrade or simplify the global processing environment, whether in authorization, clearing and settlement, dispute processing, or down-stream data applications. She's been with Visa since 1998. Prior to managing the Processing Platform team, she worked on chip/contactless product development, ATMs and cash products, debit product development and implementation, and consumer credit affluent service development.
